Our History

Western Wayne Urban Community Development has been an integral part of the the growth of affordable housing in Western Wayne County.

The accomplishments of our organization carried out in the city of Westland Michigan include twenty nine (29) infield homes built in the Carver Subdivision (click here to read the HUD article) of Westland, In addition, the development of a thirty four (34) unit Westshire Housing subdivision was built for the benefit of first time home buyers on Currier St in the City of Westland.

These efforts brought stability to the housing market where homes values increased by twenty (20) percent. Quality of life was enhanced by the investment of the City of Westland in the establishment of a new park for the citizens and the construction of a new fire station.

Best practices certifications were awarded by Housing & Urban Development (HUD) at the federal level and Joint Public Services Award with SEMCOG.
